Los Angeles By Night: Instalment Four
As our
story
continues, our heroes..er...protagonists met
up to discuss the events and information of the past few days. Allisyn's exploits at Lord Kiley's place were particularly popular.
Norton was MIA again, probably still working on that computer project, so the group settled in to farm out some phone calls. Everybody called everybody, but only a few things came of it.
Danielle Braun, Bobbie's Mentor, had found out that not only was Beth Crake hopping mad at something, but that the Council hadn't told her what she wanted to hear, although this was the extent of her knowledge.
One of Allisyn's Nosferatu contacts got back with her regarding the skinny on Crake's influence: they had successfully identified two of the environmental action groups that Crake had direct control over, but the Nosferatu revealed that that was the extent of her direct control, that anything further was indirect and probably used at least a single level of contacts to operate.
Brandon checked out Dem Bones, a semiprivate gambling club down on the Coast, where he met Rayna, a Kindred who can only be described as a "boy in the back room" (even though she's female.) The Kindred part of Dem Bones seemed to be occupied with betting on various strange things: whether a particular man in the club proper would score with a particular woman...and she asked Brandon if he would check out Sid for her. The current odds were 25 to 1 against Sid being overthrown before the year was over...but some information had reached her that this may have been giving too much in Sid's favor. Was she setting herself up for a big loss?
Obviously she was brokering information through her oddsmaking, so Brandon, always alert for new contacts, agreed to help her out. (He also met Fi, a blond with one of those lesbian haircuts, who handled security, and Charlie, a mousy little bookmaker type who was busy adding things up.)
Brandon got a hold of Allister and asked about the general Hollywood scene: Frank and Mary, two Hollywood Harpies might have more information, he found, but nothing specific was happening. Allister said he would get on it, being the high-Status man from that area.
