Decree of the Prince

To the Kindred of Tucson,

I am Darius Voytec, your new Prince. I understand that we have gotten off to a rough start. It is my hope that we will be able to put our tumultuous beginnings aside and work together to make a proud and glorious city.

When Devin Lee stood up some months ago and proclaimed himself Prince of this city, the population at that time chose to back his ascendancy. By doing so, you chose to abide by any rulings and laws he chose to make. Now, his latest proclamation was to declare me as his successor.

As Prince, it is my duty to look after the best interests of this city and her people. To ensure that the Masquerade is maintained, and to ensure that the population is well taken care of. In doing so, there will be times I may have to make a decision that some of you may not agree with. That is the way things have to be sometimes. Each of us has an option. Either accept the demands placed upon you, or leave. We can be a pack of bickering, rabid dogs fighting among ourselves for scraps of rancid meat or we work together to make this city great.

I understand that many of you may be concerned with a Tremere as Prince. I remind you, I am not Steven Wurster. Nor am I Alex, Monroe or Devin. I am Darius. I have lived in this town for longer then may of you have even been kindred. I have a long vested interest in the well fair of this city. It is my home. How many others can honestly say so themselves?

Also, some of you may-be worried about the Camarilla issue. Well, I have some news for you. As far as the Camarilla are concerned, they consider all cities under their domain. So it does not matter what we think. To them, all Kindred to either be subjects under their authority or enemies to be exterminated. Personally, I do not want some Justicar and his or her group of thugs coming in here to try to stomp us into the ground, so their envoys will be treated peacefully and with respect. At the same time, I am not declaring an open hunt on the Sabbat, Anarchs, or either of their supporters. As long as they abide by my Laws, and are willing to respect my Domain, then they will be allowed peaceful residence here.

Currently there are many issues facing this city. I intend to confront each one of them and ensure they are not a threat to us, but one person cannot do it all alone. In the next few months, I will be designating individuals to look after key facets of the city, and working with my staff to ensure that the Traditions and Laws that we are all familiar with are maintained.

Now is the time for each of you to decide. You can either accept me as your Prince, and embrace my dream to make a better, safer city for us all, or you can run from the future, hiding your heads in the sands of fear and greed. You can work with me and benefit from my rule, or you can be overrun by the tides of change that are coming.

The decision is yours. I hope you make a wise one.
Darius Voytec of House Tremere
Prince of Tucson
